You make up a title We make up a song
Since autumn of 2009 this ever changing collective of Toronto horn players have been improvising dance party music under the leadership of trumpeter and urban folk legend, Michael Louis Johnson. Sometimes a 5-piece "cabaret act", sometimes a 15 or 20 piece explosion of good vibes; every show is a once-in-lifetime experience. Improvising lyrics and music, Rambunctious deals in the traditions of swing, ska, hip-hop, funk, and more. It is pure cabaret: a band of characters ripping it up with the freedom and careless spirit of a punk band, fronted by the charm and wit of a veteran entertainer. “You make up a title - We make up a song” is the band's motto. They get a title from the audience, decide a key and a form, then launch into a new song, complete with lyrics, harmonies, choruses, the lot. But be clear, this is not some experimental artistic exploration, it's a party.
